Creamery Assistant

Round Table Farm is hiring for a part-time creamery assistant (16-30 hours/week). The position requires two shifts from 8:00 AM to 4 PM per week, with flexibility in which days (Monday-Friday) are worked and in the additional shifts. The primary responsibilities include making artisan cheese, cutting and packaging cheese, preparing and shipping orders, and maintaining a clean and sanitary creamery environment. A commitment to food safety is incredibly important in this position. 

The ideal candidate has food service experience (of any kind, but cheese-related is preferred), is comfortable working independently, and is observant and detail-oriented. Applicants should be comfortable working on their feet for long periods of time, sometimes in chilly or hot and humid environments. Must be willing to be involved in other aspects of the farm operations including occasional goat milking shifts and occasional weekend events or markets. Consistent farmers’ market shifts are also available if more hours are desired. Compensation for the Creamery Assistant position is $17-20/hour depending on experience as well as discounted farm store products. Must have reliable transportation.

Livestock Assistant

Round Table Farm is hiring for a part-time livestock assistant up to 12 hours/week. The position has some scheduling flexibility but requires at least two milking shifts (morning 7:30 am - 10:30 am). The primary responsibilities include milking our small herd of goats, setting fencing and rotationally grazing the goats on the farm, and maintaining a clean and sanitary milking environment.

The ideal candidate has livestock experience (with dairy animals is preferred), is comfortable working independently, and is thorough and responsible. Applicants should be comfortable working on their feet for long periods of time in all weather, and comfortable working in brushy terrain. Additional responsibilities could include other farm maintenance including mowing/weed whacking, cutting and packaging cheese, and repairs. Must have reliable transportation. Compensation for the Livestock Assistant position will start at $17/hour as well as discounted farm store products.

Round Table Farm is a queer woman owned farm located on a historic dairy in Hardwick, Massachusetts. Round Table Farm is passionate about building community, crafting beautiful products, and working in relationship with the land. We produce small batch artisan cheeses and raw goat milk, as well as specialty cut flowers. As a community creamery, some of our cheese is currently being made with milk hauled from local dairy farms in order to support dairy farmers in Massachusetts (though Round Table Farm does have its own growing herd of goats as well!). Our products are sold at Boston-area farmers’ markets, to New England cheese shops and restaurants, and through a local distributor.
